There aren’t many players in the NFL more versatile than the man we call Christian McCaffrey. The man is a freak of nature, who has just seemed to get bigger and stronger this offseason after putting together a fantastic fantasy performance in 2018. He is a locked in top-3 RB in 2019, and carries amazing value in dynasty leagues.
CMAC made a small splash as a rookie, and he showcased a portion of his big-play abilities. He didn’t end the season with any remarkable statistics, but he was relatively fantasy relevant. Where he made his biggest impact was during his sophomore campaign. McCaffrey went absolutely berserk and racked up over 1,000 yards on the ground to go along with 107 receptions and 867 yards through the air and a total of 13 touchdowns. The man is a machine, and received 124 targets in 2018, and only 17 of those targets hit the turf. That’s an 86 percent catch percentage, which is astonishing. He’s unguardable by linebackers in the passing attack and is now a proven workhorse in the run-game. I don’t know how it could get much better.
The man is a WR and RB all-in-one, and the fact that he is only 22-years-old gives him amazing value in dynasty leagues. I may venture to say he’s just as valuable as Saquon and Zeke at this point. With no competition in the backfield right now, it is clearly Christian McCaffrey’s backfield, with no infringements that I can see.
McCaffrey has a current ADP of 1.04 according to Fantasy Football Calculator. He’s being drafted as the RB-4 behind Zeke, Saquon, and Kamara. Honestly, I could justify taking any of those four players with the No. 1 pick in fantasy drafts, and I think it might come down to the scoring settings in your league, but I don’t think any running back will catch over 100 balls this season, besides CMAC. I could see him hitting 1,000 yards on the ground, as well as through the air this season, but I’m not going to bet on it.
2019 Stat Prediction: 215/1,032/9 rushing and 101/934/6 receving
