The New England Patriots signed FA Demaryius Thomas to a one-year contract during this offseason. The Pats needed plenty of help at the WR position, and Thomas provides a big body with plenty of speed that fits well into New England’s short passing attack.
Thomas is currently injured and should probably miss a small portion of the beginning of the season. He’s also going into his age-31 season, so he may not be the player he once was, but New England needed somebody, and Thomas is a proven playmaker that may have a little left in the tank.
I don’t expect the Patriots to be any sort of an air-raid offense this season. I feel like they will lean on the run game as they have more and more as Brady gets older. Their is also still a decent amount of targets being thrown other places, as well as Thomas being new to the group, so he will need time to gel with Brady. At this point, I don’t see much value in Thomas other than a spot on your bench for plug-n-plays.
Thomas isn’t much more than a 11th or 12th round, late season hopeful. Hope that he produces this season, and pray that he’ll break out and help you win your league.
