Throughout the NFL offseason, if your ever looking to kill some downtime, look no further than best ball drafts. So in my opinion, best balls are the best way to prepare for your season dynasty and redraft leagues, and you can make money during the process. The site/app I recommend playing on is PlayDraft. The app is really easy to use, navigate and looks super clean. The concept is, you draft a 25-player roster. This is no waiver wire or trades throughout the season so it’s all about your drafting skills. The starting lineup for this format includes 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, and one Flex. So after each week, the highest scoring player from your positions will fill out the highest scoring possible starting lineup. Whichever team has the highest total points at the end of the season, win the best ball. So now that we know the format, I got some tips by position to help you win your league. Let’s break it down by positions.

QuarterBacks: I think in a 25- man format, you need to draft 2-3 Qb’s in each draft. With that being said, if you select a QB like Aaron Rodgers, in most weeks he’s going to be your highest scoring QB. In that case, you don’t need to draft backups till much later in your drafts. Now if you avoid the top-tier studs like Patrick Mahomes, Andrew Luck, Aaron Rodgers, and Deshaun Watson, you more than likely are going to wait for numerous rounds after that. If that’s the case, you can easily get 2-3 QB’s late like Dak Prescott, Jimmy Garappolo, and Kirk Cousins. More than likely, one of those 3 guys will have a good game on a weekly basis. All 3 of those QB’s will be available in the double-digit rounds and all currently ranked outside the top-18 fantasy QB’s based on ADP.

RunningBacks: In not only redrafts but also bestball, I like to grab workhorses. Elite, bell-cow running backs are the safest thing in fantasy. All the guys that can put up a safe 15-20 points, but they also provide those huge, big game upside performances, is exactly who you should build your team around. After you get 2-3 RB’s in the first 6-7 rounds, make sure you grab some upside guys later on that could be a factor later in the season, due to injuries or something along those lines. I think something important to know is that most players in redraft like to handcuff there stud back. For Example, if you had Saquon Barkley last year, you took Wayne Gallman with one of the last picks. Instead of handcuffing your stud RB who needs to suffer an ACL tear to miss time, target a different handcuff on a completely different offense so you don’t have all your eggs in one basket.

Wide Receivers: In my opinion, this position is the most important position in all of best ball formats. Think of it like this, it’s more likely that a WR fills the flex spot than an RB simply because all it takes is a 40-60 yard TD for a WR to have a good week. Ultimately, that gives you up to 4 WR’s in your starting lineup this week. Since that’s the case, I typically draft 7-8 WR’s for each best ball draft. With no trades or free agent pickups, I just want 3-4 of those guys to do good on a weekly basis and since I have so much capital on that position, I have a 50% chance of that goal being accomplished. After I get a solid core throughout the draft, I like to grab dart throw type players that have deep-play skill sets. Players like Desean Jackson, Kenny Golladay, Mike Williams, Albert Wilson, etc were drafted late last year and contributed throughout the season.

Tight Ends: This position in best ball formats is very similar to the Quarterback position. If you get an elite guy like Travis Kelce, Zach Ertz, or George Kittle early, don’t worry about getting a back up until one of the last round of the draft. If you miss out on the elites, I advise you to grab some guys late in the draft that will get targets on a good offense, or red zone threats. Some names that you can target late are Christopher Herndon, Vance Mcdonald, Mark Andrews, and some more names. TE’s in bestball are better than redraft because you dont have to start one, hoping for a TD. Instead you can draft 3 guys and hope one gets you 8-10 points.
